Atul Kumar Mehra is a Canadian speaker, author, coach, and psychotherapist who focuses on mental health, particularly in reducing anxiety and emotional distress. With over twenty years of experience, he uses transformative therapeutic techniques to help individuals uncover and resolve subconscious conflicts affecting their lives. He is the director of the Jaagran Psychoanalysis and Wellness Centre and also teaches yoga, meditation, and dancing meditation. Mehra has authored several books that explore the roots of human suffering and strategies for emotional healing.[1][2]

Early life and education

Mehra was born in New Delhi, India. He was introduced to practices such as concentration, yoga, and meditation by his father, Raghu Nath Mehra, during his childhood. In his early years, he developed an interest in the power of the mind, especially after his father taught him techniques of concentration, yoga, and meditation. Mehra realized he could perceive future events, which led him to study numerology and palmistry.

During his college years, he wrote poetry, engaged in creative writing, and participated in theatre. He was awarded the title of best athlete for the 100-metre sprint and long jump. He earned a master’s degree from Delhi University.[3]

He later completed studies in Integrative Therapy of In-Depth Psychology in Hypnosis and Under Hypnosis in Meersburg, Germany.

Career

Mehra has used therapeutic methods that focus on subconscious conflicts and related psychological issues. He is the founder and director of the Jaagran Psychoanalysis and Wellness Center in Mississauga, Canada, where he integrates various therapeutic approaches into his practice.[4]

Mehra is a counsellor and a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors’ Association (CPCA). He is also affiliated with the Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT), the National Guild of Hypnotists (USA), and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Between April 2014 and May 2016, Mehra worked at Turning Point Detox and Rehab Centre in Hamilton, Canada. From 2000 to 2010, he served as the director of Jaagran, a yoga and meditation centre in Quito, Ecuador. Between February 2005 and June 2010, he collaborated with clinical psychologist Jose Villalba Leon as an independent psychotherapist. He also taught yoga and meditation at Colegio Británico Internacional in Quito from 2006 to 2007 and was a meditation professor at Instituto Ilades Andes from 2001 to 2003.

Moreover, Mehra is an expert in holistic healing. He combines analytical hypnotherapy, Reiki (Grand Master level), naturopathy, and colour therapy to promote deep emotional healing. His comprehensive approach, which includes aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, and therapeutic massage techniques, demonstrates his commitment to clients' overall well-being. This unique mix of alternative and evidence-based practices treats the mind and body as a connected system, helping clients achieve lasting transformation through integrative healing.

Mehra is the founder of Esculapio Alternative Medicine School in Quito, Ecuador, and a qualified instructor in Autogenous Training of Self-Hypnosis, certified by Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Hipnosis Terapéutica y Hipnopedia. He is also the creator of courses on covert communication techniques, managing anxiety, and mother-baby communication during pregnancy. He actively shares his insights through YouTube and other digital platforms, reaching a broad audience with practical advice on self-improvement and emotional resilience.[5]

Fluent in Spanish, English, Hindi, Punjabi, and conversational French, Mehra connects with diverse communities, sharing his message of healing and self-discovery worldwide.

Notable therapeutic case

Mehra documented a rare and transformative therapeutic case in his book, The Unseen Wisdom of the Unborn, involving a client whose benign pituitary tumour disintegrated during integrative therapy.[6] The client, referred to as Alba, had been diagnosed with elevated prolactin levels and a tumour on the Sella Turcica, and had been under psychiatric and gynecological care without lasting improvement. Over four years of therapy with Mehra, drawing from Whole Life Therapy and hypno-integrative techniques inspired by Dr. Werner Meinhold, Alba explored unconscious emotional conflicts rooted in early childhood and prenatal experiences.

Instead of concentrating directly on the tumour, the therapeutic process focused on healing emotional trauma, repairing family relationships, and confronting deep-rooted fears of rejection and incompleteness stemming from intrauterine life. Through comprehensive sessions involving regression, intrauterine recall, and emotional integration, Alba achieved notable psychological and spiritual breakthroughs. Ultimately, her prolactin levels returned to normal, her menstruation resumed without medication, and her attending physician confirmed the tumour's disappearance, describing the result as a miracle.

Mehra emphasizes that the process was not a medical treatment but a journey of self-awareness, emotional reconciliation, and inner transformation. He attributes the client’s healing to her own commitment, insight, and inner work, rather than to any specific external technique.
