It is a small, erect undershrub with needle-shaped, [[Biology:Gland (botany)|glandular]]-warty leaves and pale pink or red flowers arranged singly or in groups of up to three in the axil of leaves at the end of branchlets.

''Philotheca pinoides'' is an erect undershrub that grows to a height of {{cvt|30–60|cm}} with glandular-warty branchlets. The leaves are needle-shaped, about {{cvt|10|mm}} long and channelled on the upper surface. The flowers are arranged singly or in groups of up to three in a leaf axil on the end of branchlets, each flower on a [[Biology:Pedicel (botany)|pedicel]] {{cvt|4–7|mm}} long. There are five broadly triangular [[Biology:Sepal|sepal]]s about {{cvt|1.5|mm}} long and five pale pink or red [[Biology:Petal|petal]]s about {{cvt|6|mm}}. The ten [[Biology:Stamen|stamen]]s are sparsely hairy. ==Taxonomy and naming==
