'''''Dufourea ligulata''''' is a species of saxicolous (rock-dwelling), foliose lichen in the family [[Biology:Teloschistaceae|Teloschistaceae]].<ref name="CoL"/> The German lichenologist Gustav Wilhelm Körber first [[Biology:Species description|formally described]] the species in 1862, as a member of the genus ''[[Biology:Physcia|Physcia]]''.<ref name="Körber 1862"/> Patrik Frödén, Ulf Arup, and Ulrik Søchting transferred it to the genus ''[[Biology:Dufourea|Dufourea]]'' in 2013 as part of a [[Biology:Molecular phylogenetics|molecular phylogenetics]]-based restructuring of the family Teloschistaceae.<ref name="Arup et al. 2013"/>

The lichen is found in [[Place:Australasia|Australasia]], usually on coastal rocks. The {{lichengloss|lobes}} of its [[Biology:Thallus|thallus]] are 5–10&nbsp;mm long; they are generally longer and narrower than those of other Australian {{lichengloss|xanthorioid}} lichens, including ''X.&nbsp;streimannii'', ''[[Biology:Xanthoria parietina|X.&nbsp;parietina]]'', ''X.&nbsp;filsonii'', and ''X.&nbsp;elixii''.<ref name="Kondratyuk et al. 2006"/>
