'''Chordariaceae''' is a family of [[Biology:Brown algae|brown algae]]. Members of this family are may be filamentous, [[Biology:Crustose|crustose]] with fused cells at the base, or they may be [[Biology:Terete|terete]] and differentiated into a central [[Biology:Medulla (lichenology)|medulla]] and an outer [[Earth:Photosynthesis|photosynthetic]] cortex. As their general name suggests their pigmentation is brown.
