'''QQ Telescopii''', also known as '''HD 185139''' or simply '''QQ Tel''', is a solitary [[Astronomy:Variable star|variable star]] located in the southern [[Astronomy:Constellation|constellation]] [[Astronomy:Telescopium|Telescopium]]. It has an [[Astronomy:Apparent magnitude|apparent magnitude]] of 6.25,<ref name = Johnson1966/> placing it near the limit for [[Astronomy:Naked eye|naked eye]] visibility, even under ideal conditions. Gaia DR3 [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] measurements imply a distance of 333 [[Light year|light year]]s<ref name = GaiaDR3/> and it is currently receding with a heliocentric [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of {{val|7.8|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Gontcharov2006/> At its current distance, QQ Telescopii's brightness is diminished by two tenths of a [[Astronomy:Magnitude|magnitude]] due to [[Astronomy:Extinction|interstellar dust]]<ref name = Gontcharov2017/> and it has an [[Astronomy:Absolute magnitude|absolute magnitude]] of +1.01.<ref name = Anderson2012/>

HD 185139 was discovered to be a [[Astronomy:Delta Scuti variable|δ Scuti variable]] in 1982 by Debora W. Kurtz along with HR 151 (BG Ceti).<ref name = Kurtz1983/> After a few years of subsequent observations, it was given the variable designation QQ Telescopii in 1985.<ref name = Kholopov1985/> In 2002, C. Koen and colleagues attempted to identify the pulsation modes of the star.<ref name = Koen2003/> The brightness of QQ Tel fluctuates by about 0.05 magnitudes in the [[Astronomy:Photographic magnitude|blue passband]] within 1.56 hours.<ref name = Samus2017/>

QQ Telescopii has a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of F2 IV,<ref name = Houk1978/> indicating that it is a slightly [[Astronomy:Stellar evolution|evolved]] [[Astronomy:F-type star|F-type]] [[Astronomy:Subgiant|subgiant]]. It was previously classified as kA6mF0 III<ref name = Hoffleit1953/> and A0pSr(CrSi),<ref name = Brandi1973/> indicating that it is either a [[Chemistry:Chemically peculiar star|chemically peculiar]] Ap star or [[Astronomy:Am star|Am star]]. However, Renson & Manfroid (2009) considers its chemical peculiarity to be doubtful.<ref name = Renson2009/> Andersen & Nordstöm (1978) give it a class of F0 III:,<ref name = Andersen1978/> indicating that it is an evolved F-type [[Astronomy:Giant star|giant star]] with uncertainty about the luminosity class.  [[Astronomy:Stellar evolution|Evolutionary models]] place it very close to the end of its [[Astronomy:Main sequence|main sequence]] life.<ref name=GaiaDR3/>

With 1.68 times the mass of the Sun<ref name = Yang2022/> and an enlarged [[Radius|radius]] 3.19 times that of the [[Astronomy:Sun|Sun]],<ref name = Kervella2004/> QQ Telescopii radiates 26.1 times the luminosity of the Sun<ref name = GaiaDR3/> from its [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of {{val|7380|ul=K|fmt=commas}},<ref name = Stassun2019/> giving it a  yellowish-white hue. It is slightly metal enriched at [Fe/H] = +0.07<ref name = Paunzen2002/> but the value is poorly constrained.  The star is estimated to be 995 million years old<ref name = GaiaDR3/> and it spins modestly with a projected rotational velocity of {{val|45|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Koen2003/>
