'''Omega Persei''' (ω&nbsp;Persei) is a solitary,<ref name=Eggleton2008/> orange-hued [[Astronomy:Star|star]] in the northern [[Astronomy:Constellation|constellation]] of [[Astronomy:Perseus (constellation)|Perseus]].  The star is faintly visible to the naked eye with an [[Astronomy:Apparent visual magnitude|apparent visual magnitude]] of +4.6.<ref name=Luck2015/> Based upon an annual [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] shift of 11.32&nbsp;mas as seen from the Earth,<ref name=vanLeeuwen2007/> the star is about 288&nbsp;[[Light year|light year]]s from the [[Astronomy:Sun|Sun]].

ω&nbsp;Persei has the traditional name '''Gorgonea Quarta''' {{IPAc-en|g|ɔːr|g|@|'|n|iː|@|_|'|k|w|ɔːr|t|@}}, being the fourth member of the quartet called the Gorgonea in reference to the [[Unsolved:Gorgon|Gorgon]]s from the legend of [[Social:Perseus|Perseus]].<ref name=allen1899/>

This is an [[Astronomy:Stellar evolution|evolved]] [[Astronomy:K-type star|K-type]] [[Astronomy:Giant star|giant star]] with a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of K0&nbsp;III.<ref name=Luck2015/> It is a [[Astronomy:Red clump|red clump]] star that is generating energy via helium fusion at its core.<ref name=Alves2000/> At the estimated age of 1.65 billion years, Omega Persei has double<ref name=Luck2015/> times the mass of the Sun and has expanded to about 19<ref name=Massarotti2008/> times the Sun's radius.
