'''HD 33541''', also known as '''HR 1683''', is a white-hued [[Astronomy:Star|star]] located in the northern [[Astronomy:Circumpolar constellation|circumpolar constellation]] [[Astronomy:Camelopardalis|Camelopardalis]]. It has an [[Astronomy:Apparent magnitude|apparent magnitude]] of 5.83,<ref name = Oja1991/> making it faintly visible to the [[Astronomy:Naked eye|naked eye]]. Gaia DR3 [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] measurements imply a distance of 358 light years<ref name = GaiaDR3/> and it is currently receding with a heliocentric [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of {{val|9.9|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Gontcharov2006/> At its current distance HD 33541's brightness is diminished by 0.16 [[Astronomy:Magnitude|magnitude]]s due to interstellar extinction<ref name = Gontcharov2017/> and it has an [[Astronomy:Absolute magnitude|absolute magnitude]] of +0.58.<ref name=  Anderson2012/>

The object has a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of A0 V,<ref name = Cowley1969/> indicating that it is an ordinary [[Astronomy:A-type main-sequence star|A-type main-sequence star]]. It has 2.69 times the mass of the Sun<ref name = Stassun2019/> and 2.52 times the Sun's radius.<ref name = Kervella2004/> It radiates 69.3 times the luminosity of the Sun<ref name = GaiaDR3/> from its [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of {{val|11200|ul=K|fmt=commas}}.<ref name = Phillip1980/> HD 33541 has an [[Chemistry:Iron|iron]] abundance 71% that of the [[Astronomy:Sun|Sun]] ([Fe/H] = −0.15)<ref name = Anders2019/> and it is estimated to be 300 million years old.<ref name = Gontcharov2012/> The star spins modestly with a projected rotational velocity of {{val|70|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Dworestky1974/>

HD 33541 was originally considered to be a solitary [[Astronomy:Star|star]].<ref name = Eggleton2008/> However, Abt & Morell (1995) suggested that HD 33541 may be a close binary with two components that each have rotational velocities of 10 km/s.<ref name = Abt1995/> A later paper gives the rotational velocity of the primary as {{val|60|u=km/s}} and of the secondary {{val|11|u=km/s}}.<ref name=Glebocki2005/>  It is now considered to be a [[Astronomy:Spectroscopic binary|spectroscopic binary]] with a period of 20.8 hours and a somewhat eccentric [[Physics:Orbit|orbit]] based on Gaia DR3 models.<ref name = GaiaDR3orbit/>
