'''HD 117566''', also known as '''HR 5091''', is a solitary yellow-hued [[Astronomy:Star|star]]<ref name = Eggleton2008/> located in the northern [[Astronomy:Circumpolar constellation|circumpolar constellation]] [[Astronomy:Camelopardalis|Camelopardalis]]. It has an [[Astronomy:Apparent magnitude|apparent magnitude]] of 5.74,<ref name = Tycho2000/> making it faintly visible to the [[Astronomy:Naked eye|naked eye]]. This object is relatively close at a distance of 291 [[Light year|light year]]s based on Gaia DR3 [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] measurements but is receding with a heliocentric [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of {{val|14|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Soubrian2008/> At its current distance, HD 117566's brightness is diminished by 0.12 [[Astronomy:Magnitude|magnitude]]s due to [[Astronomy:Extinction|interstellar dust]].<ref name = Gontcharov2017/>

HD 117566 has a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of G3 IIIb Fe−1 CH1,<ref name = Keenan1989/> indicating that it is a G-type giant with an under-abundance of [[Chemistry:Iron|iron]] and an overabundance of the CH radical in its [[Spectrum|spectrum]]. Its [[Astronomy:Stellar evolution|evolutionary stage]] is unclear. A 1994 paper places it in the [[Astronomy:Hertzsprung gap|Hertzsprung gap]],<ref name = Wallerstein1994/> indicating it has ceased [[Chemistry:Hydrogen|hydrogen]] core fusion and is now evolving toward the red giant branch (RGB). However, Mishenina et al. (2006) said that HD 117566 is already past the RGB and is on the [[Astronomy:Horizontal branch|horizontal branch]], fusing [[Chemistry:Helium|helium]] at its core.<ref name = Mishenina2006/> Nevertheless, it has 2.29 times the mass of the Sun<ref name = Liu2014/> and, at the age of 760 million years,<ref name = Soubrian2008/> it has expanded to 7.2 times the Sun's radius.<ref name = Kervella2004/> It radiates 38.2 times the luminosity of the Sun<ref name = GaiaDR3/> from its [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of {{val|5420|ul=K|fmt=commas}}.<ref name = Strassmeier2000/> HD 117566 has a solar [[Astronomy:Metallicity|metallicity]]<ref name =daSilva2015/> and spins modestly with a projected rotational velocity of {{val|9|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = DeMed2014/>
