It is visible to the naked eye as a dim, red-hued star with an [[Astronomy:Apparent visual magnitude|apparent visual magnitude]] of 4.97.<ref name=Anderson2012/> This is an aging [[Astronomy:Red giant|red giant]] star on the [[Astronomy:Asymptotic giant branch|asymptotic giant branch]]<ref name=Eggen1992/> with a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of M3−III.<ref name=Keenan1989/> Having exhausted the supply of hydrogen at its [[Astronomy:Stellar core|core]] it has expanded to 60<ref name=GaiaDR2/> times the girth of the Sun. The star is radiating 614<ref name=GaiaDR2/> times the luminosity of the Sun from its swollen [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of around 3,712&nbsp;K.<ref name=GaiaDR2/> It is moving further away from the Sun with a heliocentric [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of +43&nbsp;km/s.<ref name=Anderson2012/>
