'''23 Leonis Minoris''' (23 LMi) is a solitary,<ref name = Eggleton2008/> bluish-white hued [[Astronomy:Star|star]] located in the northern [[Astronomy:Constellation|constellation]] Leo Minor. It is positioned 7° south and 11" west from [[Astronomy:Beta Leonis Minoris|β Leonis Minoris]]. It is rarely called 7 H. Leonis Minoris, which is its Hevelius designation.<ref name = Verbunt2010/>

The object has an [[Astronomy:Apparent magnitude|apparent magnitude]] of 5.49, allowing it to be faintly visible to the [[Astronomy:Naked eye|naked eye]]. Based on [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] measurements from the Gaia satellite, it is estimated to be 279 [[Light year|light year]]s distant. 23 LMi is receding from the [[Astronomy:Solar System|Solar System]] with a fairly constrained [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of {{val|16|ul=km/s}}.{{Citation needed|date=July 2023}} At its current distance, the star's brightness is diminished by a tenth of a [[Astronomy:Magnitude|magnitude]] due to interstellar dust.<ref name = Gontcharov2017/> 23 LMi's kinematics matches that of the Hyades moving group and it is considered a probable member.<ref name = Eggen1992/>

23 LMi was catalogued as a chemically peculiar star with a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of A0 Vpn due to a lack of [[Chemistry:Magnesium|magnesium]] in its spectrum by Helmut Abt and Nidia Irene Morrell.<ref name = Abt1995/> However, A.P. Cowley and colleagues instead listed it as an ordinary [[Astronomy:A-type main-sequence star|A-type main-sequence star]] with nebulous absorption lines as a result of rapid rotation, with the class being A0 Vn.<ref name = Cowley1969/> It has 2.55 times the mass of the Sun<ref name = David2015/> and is said to be 285 million years old,<ref name = Grosbol1978/> having completed 60.8% of its [[Astronomy:Main sequence|main sequence]] lifetime.<ref name = Zorec2012/> It has double the radius of the Sun<ref name = Stassun2018/> and shines with a [[Astronomy:Luminosity|luminosity]] 44.3 times that of the [[Astronomy:Sun|Sun]]<ref name = Zorec2012/> from its [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of {{val|10377|ul=K|fmt=commas}}.<ref name = David2015/> 42 LMi is currently spinning rapidly with a projected rotational velocity of {{val|235|ul=km/s}}.<ref name = Abt1995/>
