'''23 Camelopardalis''' is a [[Astronomy:Star|star]] in the northern [[Astronomy:Circumpolar constellation|circumpolar constellation]] of [[Astronomy:Camelopardalis|Camelopardalis]], located 433&nbsp;[[Light year|light year]]s away from the Sun.<ref name=GaiaDR2/> It is just visible to the naked eye as a dim, yellow-hued star with an [[Astronomy:Apparent visual magnitude|apparent visual magnitude]] of 6.17.<ref name=Luck2015/> The object is moving closer to the Sun with a heliocentric [[Astronomy:Radial velocity|radial velocity]] of −2.5&nbsp;km/s.<ref name=GaiaDR2/>

With a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of G5&nbsp;III:,<ref name=Luck2015/> 23 Camelopardalis appears to be an aging [[Astronomy:Giant star|giant star]] that has exhausted the hydrogen at its core and [[Astronomy:Stellar evolution|evolved]] away from the [[Astronomy:Main sequence|main sequence]], although the ':' denotes some uncertainty about the classification. It is a [[Astronomy:Red clump|red clump]] giant,<ref name=Mishenina2006/> which indicates it is on the [[Astronomy:Horizontal branch|horizontal branch]] and is generating energy through helium fusion at its [[Astronomy:Stellar core|core]]. The star is 1.5<ref name=Luck2015/>&nbsp;billion years old with more than double<ref name=Luck2015/> the mass of the Sun and almost 10<ref name=GaiaDR2/> times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 60<ref name=GaiaDR2/> times the Sun's luminosity from its enlarged [[Astronomy:Photosphere|photosphere]] at an [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of 5,183&nbsp;K.<ref name=daSilva2011/>
