'''19 Arietis''' (abbreviated '''19 Ari''') is a [[Astronomy:Star|star]] in the northern [[Astronomy:Constellation|constellation]] of [[Astronomy:Aries (constellation)|Aries]]. ''19 Arietis'' is the [[Astronomy:Flamsteed designation|Flamsteed designation]]. It has an [[Astronomy:Apparent visual magnitude|apparent visual magnitude]] of 5.70,<ref name=clpl4_99/> which means it is faintly visible to the naked eye. Based upon an annual [[Astronomy:Parallax|parallax]] shift of 6.81&nbsp;mas,<ref name=aaa474_2_653/> it is approximately {{Convert|480|ly|pc|abbr=off|lk=on}} away from Earth. At that distance, the brightness of the star is diminished by 0.21 in magnitude from [[Astronomy:Extinction|extinction]] caused by [[Astronomy:Interstellar medium|interstellar gas and dust]].<ref name=aaa430_165/>

This is a [[Astronomy:Red giant|red giant]] star with a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of M0&nbsp;III.<ref name=mnras389_2_869/> It is a semi-regular variable with periods of 32 and 275 days; the brightness of the star changes by an amplitude of 0.14 in magnitude during those intervals.<ref name=mnras355_2_601/> The measured [[Astronomy:Angular diameter|angular diameter]] of this star, after correction for [[Astronomy:Limb darkening|limb darkening]], is {{nowrap|2.44 ± 0.03 mas}}.<ref name=aaa431_773/> At the estimated distance of Delta Ophiuchi,<ref name=aaa474_2_653/> this yields a physical size of about 39 times the [[Astronomy:Solar radius|radius of the Sun]].<ref name=lang2006/> The [[Astronomy:Effective temperature|effective temperature]] of the [[Astronomy:Stellar atmosphere|outer envelope]] is 3,690&nbsp;K,<ref name=aaa460_3_855/> giving it the cool reddish glow of an M-type star.<ref name=csiro/>
