'''11 Camelopardalis''' is a single<ref name=Eggleton2008/> [[Astronomy:Star|star]] in the northern [[Astronomy:Circumpolar constellation|circumpolar constellation]] of [[Astronomy:Camelopardalis|Camelopardalis]], located around 690&nbsp;[[Light year|light year]]s away from the Sun as determined by [[Astronomy:Stellar parallax|parallax]]. It has the [[Astronomy:Variable star designation|variable star designation]] '''BV Camelopardalis'''; ''11 Camelopardalis'' is the [[Astronomy:Flamsteed designation|Flamsteed designation]]. This object is visible to the naked eye as a faint, blue-white hued star with a baseline [[Astronomy:Apparent visual magnitude|apparent visual magnitude]] of +5.22.<ref name=Anderson2012/> It forms a [[Astronomy:Double star|double star]] with [[Astronomy:12 Camelopardalis|12 Camelopardalis]], which is only 3 [[Arcminute|arcminute]]s away.

This is a [[Astronomy:Main sequence|main sequence]] [[Astronomy:Be star|Be star]] with a [[Astronomy:Stellar classification|stellar classification]] of B3&nbsp;Ve.<ref name=Slettebak1982/> Samus et al. (2017) classify it as a Be variable, rather than a [[Astronomy:Gamma Cassiopeiae variable|Gamma Cassiopeiae type]], and it ranges from a peak Hipparcos magnitude of 5.10 down to 5.22.<ref name=Samus2017/> The star is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 95&nbsp;km/s,<ref name=Zorec2016/> but is being viewed from an extreme pole-on position. Hence it is spinning much more rapidly than indicated. Outbursts of hydrogen emission lines have been observed, as well as rapid changes in hydrogen line profiles.<ref name=Ballereau1987/> It is 25<ref name=Tetzlaff2011/>&nbsp;million years old with around six<ref name=Zorec2016/> times the mass of the Sun.
